Tom graduated from
UC Berkeley with B.S. and B.A. degrees in Political Science and
Business Administration.
Upon graduation, he began his mortgage career with Pacific States
Mortgage in Oakland, CA. In 1967, he opened a branch for Weyerhauser
Mortgage in Hayward. In 1971, he decided to start his own company,
Cal-Bay Mortgage, which was headquartered in Hayward.
Tom originated loans at a high level until 1987. His highest production
in any one month was 135 loan applications. In August of 1987, he
decided that he wanted to change his focus in the industry and instead
of originating personally, hire and help other loan officers grow
their mortgage careers.
Tom did this very successfully through the '90's when Cal-Bay had
as many as 8 branches and 80+ loan officers. Tom met Jeff May, the
president of Cherry Creek Mortgage Company, and Stacey Harding,
their national production manager at Todd Duncan's Master's Coach
program in 2000 and developed a rapport based on their similar ideas
and beliefs in growth and performance.
As a result, Tom asked his partner to buy out his interest in Cal-Bay
in December 2000 and made a commitment to open a new chapter in
his career by starting a net branch for Cherry Creek in Pleasanton,
CA in January 2001.
